Hockey New Brunswick announces World Juniors 50/50 Legacy Plan

Hockey New Brunswick is pleased to announce that the World Juniors 50/50 proceeds will leave a legacy of $158,000 that supports equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives, female hockey, and safety.

Prior to the event, Hockey New Brunswick identified three beneficiaries:

  • Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion initiatives
  • Female Hockey Associations
  • Sexual Violence New Brunswick

The summary of the legacy plan is as follows:

Female Hockey Associations - $88,000.

A grant application has been created, that associations and leagues can apply for. The grants are designed to strengthen female hockey programming, with a particular focus on three areas: Athlete Experience, Leadership and Promotion. The primary objective is to achieve growth in the female game at every age group and level of play for players, coaches, and support staff. To learn more and to apply for a grant, CLICK HERE.

Equity, Diversity & Inclusion initiatives - $40,000

There are three areas specific to Equity, Diversity & Inclusion that will receive funding:

  • Neurodiverse Camps: This season, Hockey New Brunswick is hosting a Neurodiverse program for all neurodiverse youth between the ages of 5-17 in Dieppe. The program is free of charge and includes 10 on-ice sessions. Next season, Hockey New Brunswick will host three programs; an application for associations to host one of the three programs will be sent out this summer.
  • Equity, Diversity & Inclusion workshops: Minor Hockey Associations can apply to host Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion workshops. The focus of the workshops is making hockey more inclusive, how we can accommodate the differences of people and ideas to promote diversity awareness.
  • Para Hockey Programming: Funding to existing para hockey programs to assist with coach development and recruitment initiatives.

Sexual Violence New Brunswick - $30,000

To support Sexual Violence New Brunswick’s professional development, training, and public education programs. As well as to support their counselling programs for those affected by Sexual Violence. For more information on Sexual Violence NB visit - https://svnb.ca.
