HNB announces development programs to be held in conjunction with the U18 Women’s National Championship
In partnership with Hockey Canada, Hockey New Brunswick has announced a number of development activities to be held in conjunction with the U18 Women’s National Championship, taking place at the qplex in Quispamsis from November 3rd-9th.
For the first time in the tournament’s history, the U18 Women’s National Championship will be held in Atlantic Canada. Eight teams consisting of the top under-18 female players in Canada — Alberta, Atlantic, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario Blue, Ontario Red, Québec and Saskatchewan.
“As part of hosting the U18 Women’s National Championship, a priority for Hockey New Brunswick was to offer development programs for women and girls throughout New Brunswick. We’re excited to be working with Hockey Canada to offer programs for players, coaches, volunteers and officials. In addition to attending the development programs, participants will have the opportunity to watch the best under-18 female players from across Canada during the Championship”, said Katie Peddle, Director of Female Hockey at Hockey New Brunswick.
Esso Fun Days
The Esso Fun Days are open to female players of all skill levels, including new hockey players. Each Esso Fun Day includes an on-ice session, off-ice session, and a pizza or Tim Hortons party. All players will receive a Hockey Canada / Esso Fun Day jersey.
The sessions are open to skaters and goalies. Goalies who attend will receive goaltending specific instruction.

We are Coaches Clinic

We are Coaches Clinics is a women-only coach training session that has been designed to increase the number of trained women coaches in Canada in order to provide mentors and role models for young participants. The clinic will provide attendees with their Coach 1 / Coach 2 certification and will consist of a 60 minute classroom session and a 60 minute on-ice session.
Participants will receive a voucher for 2 tickets to a preliminary or quarterfinal game, coaching resources and an HNB / Hockey Canada gift.

Coach Seminar
Sunday, November 3rd

The coaching seminar will have a variety of presentations in the topics of Mental Performance, Player Development / High Performance pathway, Practice Planning, and Goaltending. Presenters for the seminar will be announced in the coming weeks.
Participants will receive a voucher for 2 tickets to a preliminary or quarterfinal game, coaching resources and an HNB / Hockey Canada gift.
The Coach Seminar is open to all Minor and Female Hockey coaches, volunteers, administrators and parents.

Officiating clinic
Saturday November 9th
Classroom – 9:30 am – 10:30 am
On-ice – 10:45 am – 11:45 am
The clinic will include a 60-minute off-ice session and a 60 minute on-ice session. It will be open to all Female Officials and females interested in officiating this season. The off-ice session will be led by Hockey Canada Officiating supervisors as well as Officials from the U18 Women’s National Championship, providing direction from the top female officials in the country. The officiating clinic will provide female officials with an opportunity for professional development.
During the on-ice session, officials will go through skating drills as well an overview of positioning, face-offs and other officiating related procedures.
Participants will receive a voucher for two tickets to the Bronze Medal Game and an HNB / Hockey Canada gift.
