Guy Pellerin inducted into NB Sports Hall of Fame

On Friday June 17th the NB Sports Hall of Fame welcomed six new members. One of those members was NBHOA's own Guy Pellerin.

Guy Pellerin wore referee stripes for over 30 years.  He first started officiating in the Shediac Minor Hockey Association, before joining the Greater Moncton Hockey Officials Association at the age of 18, where he began working High School and U18AAA games.  The Shediac Native rose quickly through the ranks, quickly working the Maritime Junior Hockey league, the Atlantic University Sports Men's Hockey, and was one of the first Maritime officials hired by the QMJHL in 1994 when the Halifax Mooseheads joined the league.  Guy went on to officiate over 500 games in the QMJHL, and now works for the league as an officiating coach in the Maritime Division.  Guy's most success was at the Amateur level where he was the only Amateur Official selected to work the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, working alongside many NHL Referees.  Guy's many IIHF assignments include the World Junior Championships in 2006 and 2009, the World Senior Championships in Hungary, Russia and Quebec City in 2005, 2007 and 2008, and the Spengler Cup in Switzerland in 2008.

Guy spent 3 years chasing the dream of Refereeing in the NHL moving to Texas to Referee in the Western Professional Hockey League, East Coast Hockey League and the American Hockey League.  When a spot in the NHL did not open up Guy returned to Moncton, to continue officiating in the QMJHL, CIS, AHL, MHL started his company Pellerin Sports, Married the love of his life Caroline Belliveau, and they welcomed a son Joshua into their lives.  Guy is still active in our association working as an officiating coach, most recently assisting officials at the HNB U13AAA and U15AAA Provincials held in Moncton in April.

Congratulations Guy, Caroline and Josh, we at the NBHOA could not be more proud of your accomplishments.
