HNB Academic Scholarship in Memory of Ron Bradbury
Hockey New Brunswick is pleased to award the HNB Academic Scholarship in Memory of Ron Bradbury to Isabelle Poitras of Edmundston, N.B.
The HNB Academic Scholarship, valued at $1,000, was established in 2002 to recognize the outstanding contribution of Ron Bradbury to hockey. The scholarship is awarded to a player who shows great academic results throughout their high school career.
Isabelle is a Grade 12 student at Cité de Jeunes A.-M.-Sormany in Edmundston. She began playing hockey as a goaltender just three years ago after being approached by the coach of her school’s female hockey team. Isabelle accepted the challenge, working hard to learn how to skate and how to be a goalie. She’s been in the crease for the past three seasons and has played a crucial role in her team’s success.
As a natural athlete, Isabelle fell in love with hockey immediately and sought out opportunities to expand her skills. With the support of her team and her work ethic, Isabelle excelled in hockey, despite her late start. She stands out for her desire to constantly grow and improve.
Isabelle is known for being a hard worker. On the ice, she views victories as rewards for hard work, and defeats as learning opportunities. In the classroom, she is a model student who takes her education seriously. Isabelle’s academic results are a reflection of her intellectual curiosity and understanding of the subject.
She is president of her school’s free peer tutoring program, held several times a week through virtual means. Isabelle volunteers with several local organizations and recently participated in an influenza vaccination clinic, with plans to support COVID-19 vaccination clinics in the future.
Isabelle plans to attend the Université de Moncton before pursuing medical school in the hopes of becoming a radiologist or anesthesiologist.
Congratulations to Isabelle on her achievements.
