Rosters Announced for Hockey New Brunswick High Performance Summer Camps
Fredericton, NB – July 20, 2018 – Two hundred and twenty-three male and female hockey players, in five divisions have been invited to participate in the Hockey New Brunswick Development Festival beginning July 23rd. The camps will run over three weeks in Fredericton, on the University of New Brunswick campus.
On the male side, sixty-eight players will be attending the Under-14 camp, along with forty in the Under-15 division and forty at the Under-16 camp. Females will have forty in the Under-16 camp and thirty-five in Under-18.
From the players invited, players will be selected in the Male Under-14, Male Under-15, Female Under-16 and Female Under-18 divisions to compete against the other Atlantic branches at the Atlantic Challenge Cup, held in Moncton on Thanksgiving weekend. The Male Under-16 staff will select players to compete in a Pre-Canada Winter Games event against the other Atlantic branches from September 27th-30th in Dartmouth, NS.
In the Male Under-16 and Female Under-18 divisions Hockey New Brunswick will continue to evaluate players until mid-November; they’ll then select 20 players in each division to compete at the Canada Winter Games, which will be held February 2019 in Red Deer, AB
Each of the summer camps will feature inter-squad games each evening, as well as daily practices, fitness testing, and presentations from guest speakers on topics including fitness, mental preparation and nutrition.
Some notable alumni that have participated in the HNB High Performance Program, and went on to play for Team Canada include Sarah MacDonnell, Nathan Beaulieu, Sean Couturier, Jake Allen, Patrice Cormier and Luc Bourdon.
