Hockey New Brunswick Presents the 2009 Hockey Development Festival
Welcome
Welcome to the 2009 Hockey New Brunswick Hockey Development Festival. The Hockey New Brunswick Board of Directors together with the New Brunswick Hockey Development Council are confident your son/daughter will experience a high caliber of coaching and training methods during this camp. Schedules
A copy of the schedule can be found on the newly developed HNB website. Hockey Development Festival
Developing the player is front and foremost the target for this event. The coaching staff will take the next five days to mold the top 40 in each respective category to strive to be the best they can be and show tactics to improve their weaknesses. A team from each category will be chosen from the HDF to attend the Atlantic Challenge Cup held in October. This year’s Atlantic Challenge Cup will be held in Moncton, New Brunswick.
That being said, the main objective of this camp is to provide an enjoyable learning environment that contributes to the social, emotional, mental and physical development of all players and staff. On-Ice Curriculum
The New Brunswick Hockey Development Council has placed a great deal of effort on developing an on-ice curriculum for the Hockey Development Festival. You received an outline of the tactics and concepts that will be covered in each of the age categories in the player letters sent out in June. Off-Ice Curriculum
The off-ice content of the Hockey Development Festival includes, but is not limited to: team building, leadership, communication, player interviews, educational sessions, as well as off-ice strength training and conditioning. Parents and players who have participated in the Program Of Excellence regularly express many positive comments with respect to the value and benefit the off-ice package has had for their son/daughter. Evaluation Process
The evaluation process will see players evaluated on a scale of 1-5. (1-unacceptable, 2-below average, 3-average, 4-above average, and 5- excellent.) Evaluations will be calculated and the players with top accumulated scores will be selected at the end of the Hockey Development Festival. Conclusion
Players will receive a letter by the end of August at which time they will be advised whether or not they advance to the Atlantic Challenge Cup.
Once again, welcome to the HNB Program of Excellence Development Festival and we trust it will be an enjoyable experience for all. “Strive for Excellence, not Perfection.” Parent Bulletin (PDF - 153 KB)
