Testimonials
The Olympics have been a dream for a long time for most athletes and to finally receive the phone call to say that I was selected to officiate the 2010 Olympic was unbelievable. I owe a lot of this to Hockey New Brunswick and the New Brunswick Hockey Officials Association for all their support along the way. I started referring minor hockey at the age of 14 with the Shediac Minor Hockey Association. Over many years of officiating in the province a lot of my recent success is due to the great programs this province has for officials. If you look over the years there has been many great officials to come out of this program, the reason is the teaching tools we have within the province and all the great officials that are staying active by helping out younger officials along the way. I would like to thank everyone that has helped me over the years; I cherish all your help in getting me to achieve my goal with the Olympics.
– Guy Pellerin
Hockey New Brunswick would like to congratulate Guy Pellerin on all of his success and his recent appointment to the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. We are extremely proud as an organization to have such a well rounded official represent New Brunswick at the Winter Games.
- Tom Donovan
Hockey New Brunswick was a big part of my development into an NHL Referee. I started officiating when I was 12 years old for the Beresford Minor Hockey Association. I was a member of the New Brunswick Official Association for 14 years and officiated and played at every minor level. I moved to Moncton, NB in 1999 to attend Universite de Moncton and joined the Greater Moncton Hockey Official Association. I was chosen to attend the Program of Excellence in 2002 and HNB gave me the chance to officiate at the Air Canada Cup, Canada Winter Games, World Under -17, CIS Canadian Championships and World University Cup. I would like to thank all my fellow referees and friends from Hockey New Brunswick that I had a chance to work with and helped me along the way. I also thank Referee in Chief Glenn Hurley who gave me a chance to pursue a dream of mine. I am proud to be the 4th referee from New Brunswick to join the NHL staff after Bernard DeGrace from Shippagan, Tim Peel from Hampton and Chris Lee from St. John.
– Ghislain Hebert
The NBHOA is proud to have another of their members move on to their dream of working in the NHL. Ghislain Hebert has attained his success by hard work and many miles of travel to arenas all over North America. His involvement in our Officials Program of Excellence created many opportunities for him leading to the QMJHL and various other Hockey Canada events in which he represented our Branch with his best efforts. Ghislain’s work as a classroom instructor for our minor hockey official’s clinics is much appreciated. While our goal is not to produce officials for the NHL as very few will ever obtain that level, it is good for our program for the young officials to see success stories so they can strive to get to the next level.
