HNB Coach of the Month

Hockey New Brunswick is pleased to announce Mike Higgins as the HNB Coach of the Month for December. Mike pulls double duty as Head Coach of the Kennebecasis Valley Minor Hockey Association Female Pee Wee C Vipers and Atom C Hurricanes.

“During practices Coach Higgins, along with his assistant coaches, ensures the drills are at each players level. Those who are new to hockey are encouraged and praised for their efforts and players who have a higher degree of skill are challenged” says Arthur Brow, team parent. “His practices maintain a sense of fun but skill development is at the forefront.”

Mike outlined his coaching philosophy in a statement to HNB. “Hockey in the Kennebecasis Valley, like in many communities, is a passion, where parents, players, coaches and associations like KVMHA and HNB have an opportunity to create a positive experience for all involved.  Having fun, being a good teammate and having players earn confidence, so they can move from “I can’t...” to “I am currently challenged with...” are the top three goals.  Without amazing parents, engaged players, assistant coaches, on and off-ice helpers and solid association support, none of this is possible.”

Mike will receive a Bauer Coaches bag, a 1-year subscription to the Hockey Canada Network, and an apparel package from Hockey NB. To nominate someone for Coach of the Month, you can click here.
