Jake Allen Launches Fantasy Goalie Camp
FREDERICTON – St. Louis Blues goaltender and Fredericton native Jake Allen is pleased to announce the launch of the Jake Allen Fantasy Goalie Camp for bantam goaltenders in New Brunswick through his non-profit, Program 34. Thirty goalies from across New Brunswick will be selected to attend the free-of-charge camp in Fredericton on July 9 and 10, 2017. Participants will attend elite on-ice and off-ice sessions designed to improve skills, consistency, and confidence in New Brunswick’s young goaltenders.
“We’re trying to build the dream in young goalies. We want more New Brunswick goalies to strive to the elite level,” said Allen. “It’s exciting to be able to provide this opportunity to players in my home province.” The comprehensive camp will emphasize skill development, proper goaltending techniques, game knowledge and sportsmanship. Goalies will gain a competitive edge in a fun and unique learning environment. Classroom sessions will involve technical training, equipment sessions, and discussions about life in the NHL. In addition to hockey skills, goalies will hear from guest lecturers to round out the camp experience. “The key to becoming a successful goalie is hard work, dedication, and proper instruction. Our variety of sessions and training will help goalies develop and master their individual skills and take their game to the next level,” Allen said. “Even the best players have to refine their skills to continually improve.”
The camp is fully funded for all participants by Allen’s Program 34 not-for-profit, covering the costs of accommodation, meals, and a gift bag for each goalie. The Program 34 foundation, established in 2016, raises money to provide opportunities and support for local charities and children in need in New Brunswick. Through the support of hockey fans and New Brunswick residents, Program 34 has raised more than $60,000 for organizations in the province in the past year. Program 34 has partnered with Hockey New Brunswick, Vaughn, and Kingswood Entertainment to make the Jake Allen Fantasy Goalie Camp a reality.
The Jake Allen Fantasy Goalie Camp is the first of many exciting announcements to be made by Program 34 in the coming weeks.
