CANADIAN COMMUNITIES TO CELEBRATE WORLD GIRLS’ HOCKEY WEEKEND

CALGARY, Alta. – Hockey Canada will once again team up with the International Ice Hockey Federation and fellow member nations for World Girls’ Hockey Weekend, taking place Oct. 10-12 in rinks around the globe.

Now in its fourth season, the IIHF has developed World Girls’ Hockey Weekend to help grow the women’s game at all levels, and in all participating countries.

The First Shift program designed to ease new-to-hockey families into the game

TORONTO – October 7, 2014 – Bauer Hockey and Hockey Canada today launched The First Shift, a new learn-to-play hockey program designed to introduce kids and families to the game in a fun, convenient and practical way. Changing the way hockey is offered, The First Shift will be available in 30 markets across Canada and is part of Bauer Hockey’s global Grow the Game initiative to add one million new families to the game by 2022.

Moncton Rockets to Host Female Midget AAA Atlantic Championship

The MacLauchlan Arena on the UPEI campus will play host to the Atlantic Regional branch Canada Games Male training teams from October 3-5, 2014.  The four teams are preparing for the 2015 Canada Winter Games in February in Prince George, BC.

Male U16 roster announced for Canada Games pre-event to be held Oct 2-5, Charlottetown PEI.

Minor Bantam AAA registration

Minor Bantam AAA (EDZA East) will hold a registration on Thursday September 11, from 6h00 to 7h30 at the Cocgane Arena.  There will also be an ice session the same night from 7h30 to 8h30. All player born in 2001, from District 7 (West Kent) and District 6 (Moncton, Dieppe, Riverview, Lewisville, Sackville, Hillsborough, Petitcodiac) are invited. Woodstock Slammers to Host 2016 Fred Page Cup

The MHL has formally announced that the hosting rights for the 2016 Fred Page Cup have been awarded to the Woodstock Slammers. The Slammers winning bid was one of three presented to the MHL at a Board of Governors meeting held in Amherst, Nova Scotia last Saturday. Bids were also submitted by the Amherst Ramblers and Summerside Western Capitals and presented to a selection committee comprised of Co-Chairmen of the MHL Board of Governors Graham Baxter and Stu Rath as well as Rod Clark and Cecil Taylor, MHL Vice-Presidents for New Brunswick and PEI, respectively.
